A significant share of India's private security workforce has historically been trained informally — learning on the job, shaped by whatever a particular company or supervisor happened to teach, with no consistent, verifiable standard behind it. Durgashtra's decision to build its own training institute, IIASRD (International Institute of Advanced Security Research & Development), reflects a specific view: that this informal model is a genuine limitation, not just an industry quirk to work around.
Why training a workforce matters more than it might seem from outside the industry. The existing training landscape for private security in India is uneven, and building an in-house institute allows training content to be developed specifically around the deployment scenarios Durgashtra's personnel actually encounter — industrial security, healthcare de-escalation, banking behavioral awareness, drone and AI surveillance system operation — rather than adapting generic training to fit these specific needs after the fact.
What this represents for the company at this early stage. Building a training institute alongside a young operating company is a genuinely significant early investment — it would have been simpler to rely purely on hiring experienced personnel from elsewhere in the industry. The decision to build IIASRD instead reflects a bet that documented, standard-aligned training produces better outcomes for clients over time than assembling a workforce purely on assumed prior experience.
Where this is headed. IIASRD's scope, as Durgashtra's broader operations develop, is intended to extend training capability specific to the surveillance and drone technology the company manufactures — training personnel not just in general security conduct, but in operating and responding to the specific systems Durgashtra deploys.
