From Guard Force to Guard-Plus-Technology: How Security Is Changing

For most of the private security industry's history, "more security" meant "more guards." That equation is breaking down — not because guards matter less, but because the risks a modern site faces (large footprints, 24-hour operations, sophisticated theft and intrusion methods) have outgrown what headcount alone can cover cost-effectively.

The arithmetic problem with guard-only scaling. Guards without technology are limited to what they can personally see and hear, at whatever moment they happen to be looking. The combination is what actually closes the gap: technology surfaces the moment that needs attention, and trained personnel provide the judgment and physical response that a system can't.
